U.S. Amateur Weightlifting Foundation’s

2024 impact report

Dear USA WEIGHTLIFTING Community,

2024 has been a fantastic year both for USA Weightlifting and for the Foundation. We can’t look back on the year without talking about the highlight of 2024, the Paris Olympic Games.

In a historic week of weightlifting for Team USA, Paris 2024 saw Olivia Reeves (71 kg) score the United States’ first gold medal since 2000 and Hampton Morris (61 kg) earn America’s first men’s medal since 1984 with his bronze. Team USA has now had a medalist in three straight Olympics, and had two medalists in both Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.

The Foundation supported the effort of the team going into the Games, and celebrated their success coming out of it by hosting the Paris Strong Gala at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum in November. This event hosted nearly every woman USA Weightlifting Olympian and all of the 2024 team. At the same time, we raised over $60,000 as we kicked off our fundraising initiative TEAM28.

As we move forward into 2025, the Foundation looks to grow our Board of Directors and expand our donor pool with focus on raising funds to support our athletes leading into the LA 2028 Games. I invite you to join our efforts in anyway that works for you, and on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Foundation, I thank you for your strong support in 2024.

With gratitude,

Timothy Laney

CEO and President of USA Weightlifting

SCHOLARSHIPS WERE GIVEN TO females ADVANCING their coaching certification

As someone who believes in the transformative power of strength training, I was driven to support USA Weightlifting Foundation, particularly female coaches who serve as crucial role models in the weightlifting community. By investing in female coaching development, we’re not just building technical expertise - we’re creating a more inclusive future for the sport that will inspire the next generation of lifters to discover their own strength. I am proud to work alongside USAWF to train and support female coaches who will help shape the future of weightlifting.
— Michelle Kaiser, USAWF Donor
One of the most crucial and stressful parts of being an elite athlete is the funding. Whether that’s the cost of international travel or the ability to dedicate all of your time and effort into the sport you love as a career. Funding from the USAW foundation is part of how every athletes dream can become a reality. USAW works hard to ensure it is capable to support its athletes giving us a chance at the ultimate dream, the Olympic Games. It is my hope that the continuation of this support ensures a bright future for the next wave of promising athletes and their dreams to make history.
